Biography

Kamai Nakamarra Brown was born in 1953 at Warakurna, an Aboriginal community located on the Western Australian side of the border with the Northern Territory. She now lives in the community of Kintore on the NT side, about 530 km from Alice Springs. She paints women’s dreaming stories from an important site located at Tjukurla, where a rockhole can be found. Her paintings depict the ceremonial clothing worn by women at this site, and the bush foods that women search for in this area.
