Nikesha Nakamarra Langdon was born in Alice Springs, the closest hospital to Yuendumu, a remote Aboriginal community located 290 km north-west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia. She is the granddaughter of Lucky Nampijinpa Langdon, a well-known artist who has been painting with Warlurkurlangu Artists since 1987. Nikesha attended the local school in Yuendumu and enjoys playing sport and painting. Nikesha use to watch her mother (Dec) and her grandmother paint and is now painting for Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation, an Aboriginal owned and governed art centre located in Yuendumu. She paints her mother’s and her grandmother’s Jukurrpa, Dreamings which relate directly to her land, its features and the plants and animals that inhabit it. These stories were passed down to her by her mother and grandmother and their parents before them for millennia. Nikesha is very active and when she is not painting she likes to play sport or go hunting for goanna with her family.
