This Ngawarra Jukurrpa (flood-water Dreaming) tells the story of a ‘warna’ (rainbow serpent) who travelled to a site called Mirrawarri. On its way it made a camp at Mungularri, close to Puyurru. ‘Kirrkarlanji’ (brown falcon [Falco berigora]) was carrying the ‘warna’ and tried to fly between two trees. The ‘warna’ twisted itself around one of the trees, causing the ‘kirrkarlanji’ to fall to the ground. The fall of the falcon caused lightning, rain and floods and created the ‘mulju’ (soakage) that is still at Mungularri today. A cloud then dropped the ‘warna’ into the Mirrawarri waterhole. This story belongs to the Jampijinpa/Jangala men and Nampijinpa/Nangala women.
