Biography

Christopher Jangala Frank was born in 1985 in Yuendumu to Daisy Napangardi and Denny Frank. He has one sister and one brother. His Grandparents have both passed away. He attended the local Yuendumu School before going to Yirara College, an Aboriginal boarding college in Alice Springs. When he finished school, he worked with the Community Development Employment Project (CDEP) working on different jobs. He now lives in Nyirripi with his wife and three children.

Although he painted in 2009 with Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation, an Aboriginal owned and governed art centre located in Yuendumu, he didn’t paint again until 2017. He paints his father’s Yankirri Jukurrpa (Emu Dreaming), stories that have been passed down to him by his parents and their parents before them for millennia. These stories relate directly to his land, its features and the plants and animals that inhabit it.

When he is not painting he plays football for Nyrippi and likes to go hunting with family.
