Sabrina Nungarrayi Gibson was born on 16 July 1975 in Alice Springs hospital, the closest hospital to Nyirripi, a remote Aboriginal community 400 km north-west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia. Sabrina Nungarrayi Gibson was born on 16 July 1975 in Alice Springs hospital, the closest hospital to Nyirripi, a remote Aboriginal community 400 km north-west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia. As a young child Sabrina attended the local school in Nyirripi, before attending Yirrara College, a boarding school in Alice Springs. When she completed her schooling, Sabrina returned to live in Nyirripi where she has worked many roles in the store, school, aged care and child care centres.
Sabrina lives with her husband and four children. She is the granddaughter of acclaimed Pintupi artist Mitjili Napanangka Gibson. Sabrina is inspired by the colourful and playful painting of her grandmother which depict Wirnpa Jukurrpa (Lightning Dreaming).
