Lisa was born and grew up in Yuendumu on the 27th of February 1989, a remote Aboriginal community in the Northern Territory, 290km north west of Alice Springs. In 2006 she is still going to the high school in the community.
Lisa is married and has one baby boy, Keanu, who was born in 2005, and her family live with her aunt and uncle.Her mother lives in Katherine, close to Darwin.
Lisa’s mother’s family come from country to the north of Yuendumu which is a large clay pan and is named Jila. The Dreamings from this country are stories which depict the landscape and animals from there and are handed down from one generation to the next within her family for thousands of years. Since 2004 Lisa has been painting her Dreamings for Warlukurlangu, an Aboriginal owned and governed art centre in Yuendumu.
Lisa plays basketball, softball and going to disco. She goes hunting for goanna with her grandmother and son.
