Chriselda Nangala Egan was born in 1983 in Alice Springs Hospital, the closest hospital to Yuendumu, a remote Aboriginal community located 290 kms north-west of Alice Springs in the NT of Australia. She spent most of her childhood at Yuendumu, and attended the local school, being educated in both English and Warlpiri. Chriselda has been painting with Warlukurlangu Artists since 2006, an Aboriginal owned and governed art centre located in Yuendumu. She paints dreamings from Wayilinpa and Mt Theo, passed down to her from her father and mother respectively. These dreamings relate directly to the land and its features, and were passed down to her parents through an oral tradition that has lasted for tens of thousands of years.
