Allison Napurrurla Gill lives in Balgo, a remote community 890 kilometres northwest of Alice Springs, on the edge of both the Tanami Desert and the Great Sandy Desert. Balgo is a crossroads for many different people and language groups. Allison speaks Kukatja due to her mother, who is from Balgo, and Warlpiri as her father was a Warlpiri man. She maintains ties with family in the Warlpiri region. She paints water dreamings and sometimes bush foods.
